Forrest Griffin was born on July 1, 1979 in
Columbus, Ohio. While studying political science at the
University of Georgia, Griffin worked as police officer. He
also trained in boxing as well as jiu jitsu for several years.
Forrest quit his job as a police officer to pursue his dream of
becoming a mma fighter.
His mma career began with a loss to Dan Severn in 2001, but was followed by seven consecutive victories until Jeremy Horn knocked Griffin out in 2003. In 2005, Forrest was chosen as a cast member of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. His grit and heart came through on the show and he instantly became a fan favorite. On April 5, 2005 Griffin won the season finale of The Ultimate Fighter and was signed to an UFC contract. Since his victory in The Ultimate Fighter, Griffin has fought some of the toughest fighters the UFC has to offer including Tito Ortiz and Mauricio Rua. In his fight against Rua, considered one of the best fighters around, Griffin silenced all his critics by submitting him in the first round by way of rear naked choke. Griffin always puts on a good show and many of his fights have been awarded fight of the year honors. Griffin was picked to be a coach on the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter. His opponent is Quentin "Rampage" Jackson, the current light heavyweight champion. This is quickly becoming one of the most highly anticipated finale's since the show first started. With their similar styles and great stand up skills, this fight should be a one of the best of the year. In 2007, Griffin also had a cameo on the T.V. show Law and Order : Special Victims Unit. He played a mma champion and a murder suspect. MMA Record Wins - 15 Losses - 4 Knockouts - 3 Submissions - 7 |
