Rashad Evans - Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion |

|
Rashad Evans is the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and the current coach of the tenth season of the Ultimate Fighter. He was also the winner of the Ultimate Fighter Season 2. Rashad has a college wrestling backround and was trained under Dan "the Beast" Severn, a UFC original and wresting great. Rashad originally competed as a Heavyweight and enter the Ultimate Fighter season 2 as the shortest and second lightest of the heavyweight contenders. He won all four matches by decision and was considered an underdog in each fight. Rashad decided to compete in the light heavyweight division and went on to win several fights in the UFC before reaching a draw with Tito Ortiz. All three judges scored the match 28-28 after they had to deduct one point from Tito's score for using the cage to defend a takedown. He went on to win a split decision versus Michael Bisping later that year. The
fight that really set up Rashad Evans on his current run is a match
against Chuck Liddell in September 2008. Both fighters were delivering
damage to one another with Rashad holding a slight advatage. Midway through the second round, both fighters threw knock out punches: the Iceman's punch barely missed but Rashad's punch connect square. It is still one of the worst knockout I've ever seen. The punch landed directly on Chuck's jaw and his head snapped back violently. On the replay, you can see the whiplash that his head receives when Rashad's punch lands. On the wings of that victory, he went on to get a TKO victory over then Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin. He was only able to enjoy his reign as champ for one fight as he was in turned knock unconscious by Lyoto Machida. His next upcoming fight is going to be against Quentin Jackson as the Ultimate Fighter Coaches square off. It can't help but be a good fight as these two match up well and there is a lot of bad blood boiling over in the show. The winner of that fight will be on a one way track to try to regain the Championship.
