Upcoming UFC Events This Saturday is the finale of the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter. There are a three fights featuring some up and comers and a couple of contestants from the reality show. The fourth fight on the card determines the next Ultimate Fighter and the winner gets a one year, six figure contract with the UFC. The main event features Roger "El Matador" Huerta vs. Clay "The Carpenter" Guida. Lets break down this main event. Roger Huerta's fighting styles are greco-roman wrestling and kickboxing. He is only 24 years but he already has 21 fights under his belt with a record of 19-1-1, so he has some experience. He made his UFC debut in 2006 at UFC 63 and his unanimous decision victory over Jason Dent was unanimously the fight of the night. He was recently featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, one that featured an article about mixed martial arts, with his thousand yard stare on and another opponent on his ass. This kid is the real deal. He is a former gang member and its shows because he is fierce. This kid does not know the word quit. His last fight lasted just 19 seconds and ended with John Halverson mounted and taking some heavy shots. I think that Guida will last longer than 19 seconds but I think Huerta is going to win this fight hands down. Clay "The Carpenter" Guida is one of those fighters with the endurance to go all three rounds, no problem. He was, you guessed it, a carpenter before he decided to try the octagon. He is a wrestler as well and half of is wins have come by submission. His last fight with Marcus Aurelio was a split decision victory. He has experience like his opponent Huerta but I just don't think he "brings it" like Huerta does. With Guida's chin, as well as his endurance, he should put up a good fight but I see Huerta winning by TKO. UFC 79 NemesisThere are two huge fights on this card including Hughes vs. St. Pierre 3 and the long awaited fight between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva. UFC 80 : Rapid FireThis takes place in England on January 19 in England and features a main event of B.J. Penn vs. Joe Stevenson. UFC 81 : Breaking PointBreaking Point is in Las Vegas on February 2 and features a main event with former professional wrestling star Broc Lesnar vs. Frank Mir.
